How to Remove or sort Categories

  Some categories were set up as Top Level when they shouldn’t be and there doesn’t seem to be any way to reorganize or delete them. Please help, I’ve spent over an hour searching on here and on Google for answers.

  I found an answer from @themagicrobot on another post. There is a way to get to the admin section by typing the address for your blog and /wp-admin/ at the end.

  The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

  http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

  * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

  If the log-in information is lost you need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

  1. To edit or delete a category assigned to a post (whether it’s a draft or has already been published), go to Dashboard → Posts → All Posts in your dashboard, hover over the title and click the Edit link. To delete the post click the Trash link.

  For editing post in the new editor see https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/#go-back-and-edit-posts

  2. To edit/delete categories in your dashboard go to Dashboard → Posts → Categories

  * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

  3. To edit or delete dynamic category pages from your custom menu go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus

  4. To edit or delete Tags go to

  Thank you timethief! I have used wordpress before on another website project, this is my first time using wordpress.com and I didn’t even think to try adding wp-admin to the end of the link.

  That’s common. Since the Calypso update resulted in that convenient dashboard link being removed.
