How to remove "page list", "meta" and "archive" from my frontpage?
-
I am using the Elegant Grunge theme and till recently, it was fine. I had configured it pretty well to the way I had wanted. But yesterday I decided to change my theme to a new one but the features did not seem very accessible with screenreader I am using. So, I switched back to my old theme “elegant grunge” but this time, I find a list of my pages, meta and archive features on my front-page which I want to remove very badly. I have not activated either of these features on my widget area and yet, they are there. I tried to remove other widgets and added some new ones but these three features still appear there. So how do I remove them? I cannot find them anywhere to delete them. Please help me. Your kind help will be highly appreciated.

Resetting it may have reverted it to standard settings, it looks to me when I visited your blog that they are in the widgets area. You can grab those and take them to the unused or the keep it but do not show it area under widgets. I am not a staff person.

Themes are just “skins”. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate” or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install the one you want to use where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

P.S. more here http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/08/02/8-hot-wordpress-com-widget-tips/
Those three widgets show up when you don’t have any other widgets set. All three will disappear if you place any other widgets in the widget sidebar. You can replace them with any widget(s) you like. If you would like NO widgets to show up, place an empty Text widget in the sidebar and that will eliminate the default display.

Many thanks for your kind suggestion. Do u mean, I should delete all the existing widgets temporarily and re-activate them afterwards?

No. You have received the CSS edits required to remove the sidebar in another thread.
Now you need to remove those CSS edits so the sidebar can display.
