How to remove some categories?

    Hi!

I have created more than required categories to classify my posts, and they show up on the webpage,I would appreciate if someone told me how to remove these extra categories.

You can do it a couple of ways. If a category doesn’t have any posts assigned to it, it will not show. As well, you can go to your Admin => Manage => Categories and delete them there as well. Any deleted category with a post will be assigned the default category.

A followup, how do you completely eliminate a category, not just from the post. I have some that have misspelling etc

And another Q, I misspelled a word in blog name, how do i change THAT??

It’s best not to bump threads marked as Resolved. Hardly anybody reads them. And please don’t post a completely different issue to the same thread.

That said, follow Trent’s second suggestion (from the Manage page) and that will get rid of them. To change the blog’s name, go to Dashboard –> Options and change it there.

Sorry about “bumping resolved thread” did not understand that. I tried going to manage but the categories still remain. I want to completely eliminate them.

You have to make sure that category isn’t the default category, for one thing. For another, sidebars are cached, so if the change isn’t showing in the sidebar yet, give it an hour or so for the sidebars to catch up.

And remember to clear your cookies and your browser cache before looking at the blog again. Do a forced reload of the page so that you’re sure you’re looking at the very latest version of the blog.
