How to remove the "Leave a Reply" box
-
Hello, is there a way to remove the “Leave a Reply” box on the pages I’ve created? I went into Settings | Discussion and unchecked everything there. No change. I deleted the words “Leave a reply” at the bottom of the Discussion page, but whenever I save it, it puts those words right back in there. Thought that would take care of it, but obviously not. :(
Thanks,
Andy

This setting is not applied to Publish posts. :) Now you should edit each post and disallow comments.
In the post editor, go to discussion tab, and unmark “[x] Allow comments.”

Changing the settings in Settings > Discussion applies to posts or pages you publish after you make those changes, not to already published posts or pages. You need to edit each published page and uncheck both “Allow comments” and “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page” in the Discussion module of the editor.

@hikerguy
To enable or disable comments on any individual post or page the instructions are found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/
Do note that when you close comments a phrase such as “comments closed” will appear and it cannot be hidden or removed without a custom design upgrade. -
Thanks everyone. What tripped me up was I had messed with the Screen Options settings and had unchecked Discussions. I re-enabled that and unchecked discussions. Problem solved.
Thanks!
Andy
