How to remove the 'Leave a reply' field
-
I have tried to disable the comment feature on my website, but on the homepage and contact us page, there is still a comment section that says “Leave a Reply.” How do I get this off? I went through all my settings and disabled what I thought would make it disappear, but it’s still there.
I checked the forum and I saw someone else had posted about this same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! =)

Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/Any existing posts or pages will need to have comments disabled manually via editing. You can use the bulk edit feature in the all posts and all pages screen to make that quicker.

See also http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/04/23/comments-off-1/ under “Faster way” and “Even faster”Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

Thanks so much for your help and all the info!
I found what I did wrong. On the pages, where the screen options are, I had unchecked the “Discussion” box, but before I did that, I should have scrolled down to the bottom (where the Discussion headline is) and unchecked the “Allow Comments” box. So I corrected that now and it has disappeared from my website.
Thanks again! =)
