How to remove the main page 'Click to Begin' button

  • Unknown's avatar

The theme I’ve chosen (Sydney) has a clickable button on the main page (‘Click to Begin’) that allows viewers to scroll down. I’d like to remove that button (or significantly shrink and move it) for aesthetic reasons, and also because I have no need for pages that scroll down. I tried everything I could on the Customize section, but nothing there allowed me to remove this button. The most I could do is change the colour.

Many WordPress themes have buttons like this, I’ve notice. I’m hoping someone can advise me on what to do.

If nothing can be done, another option, I suppose, would be to choose another theme, but I’ve had difficult finding one that has a clean, static header, and allows me to build background pages.

    Thank you for your help,
    Michel

  • Hi Michel,
Your site happens to be a self-hosted WordPress site. Unfortunately, we only offer support for WordPress.com sites in this forum.

One more thing: I've now checked, and see that I have a WordPress.com account, not a WordPress.org account.

That seems strange to me since I was originally given (by DreamHost) a link to the .org site, but the link they gave me brought me to the .com WordPress site.

I am not registered with .org.

Are you able to clear this up for me?

    thank you,
    michel

  • It is quite alright to be registered on both sites. All you need to do is visit https://login.wordpress.org/register/ to create a WordPress.org account.

    Hope this helps

    Thabo
