How to remove the numbers at the end of newly generated URLs?
-
After uploading a new version of a file on my blog, the platform changed the file’s URL by putting a number at the end of the old URL. It is the same situation with a webpage I decided to delete and substitute with a slightly different content but at the same place in the site’s structure.
Here is an example: http://vodalimon.com/en-main/healthy-together/preparation-2/
Notice the “2” number at the end of the address. However, I prefer to keep the old URL and would rather not have these numbers in the URLs of the website. I know it might sound vain, yet I prefer it this way and hope there is a solution for this issue. Keep in mind that the old page/file (the one whose address is without the number at the end) no longer exists, so at a first glance there should not be a problem to have different content on the same address.
Thank you for your cooperation as usual.

That number is supplied by the software when you have deleted the first version but have not removed it from Trash by permanently deleting it. Do that permanent deletion from Trash first and then edit the URL to remove the number.

Dear Member,
First of all, thank you for your prompt and precise reaction. It was right on the spot, helpful as usual.
I am sorry to reach you on a completely distinct a matter, yet it seems the only solution for me at the moment. The point is, I have been trying to reach WordPress on several issues after the above communication with you, but did not get any response. I wrote again to remind about my inquiries but to no avail.
Can I contact you about my problems? How am I supposed to apply to the WordPress support team in the future when I need it?
Thank you for your cooperation, have a great new year.
