How to remove the permalink from a page?

    Hi everyone,

    I know permalink has been discussed before in the forum, but with a little bit of a search through topics, i couldn’t get my answer straight.

    To give you an example: i have a parent page called animals and two child pages called cat and dog.

    I want my visitors not to be able to click on animal page (remove link of that page). So when they click or hover on parent page they go straight on one of the two child pages that will appear under animals page, in our case dog and cat.
    So, how can i remove the permalink from the animal page?

    PS: For the time being the page has a Privately Published Status, which means that my visitors view a 404 Error page.
