How to remove Widget from 1 page and not another

hi I can’t seem to find a simple solution to remove widgets from a Page or Pages and leave it on others or even on Posts. Whats the easiest solution to control exactly what pages you want you widget to be displayed on?

Please provide the complete for the URL for the blog in question starting with http:// so we can see it and provide the correct answer to your question.

Widgets are blog wide, if you want pages to not show sidebars, you can do this by changing the Template to “Full width, no sidebar” in the Add/Edit Page function.

@scott, only a couple of the themes here have the no-sidebar page template, and we don’t even know if they are talking about a wordpress.COM blog, which is why timethief asked for the URL of the blog.

widgets are blog wide regardless of .org or .com, please dont try to hijack threads.

    Hijack threads?

@scott, I’ve been here doing this volunteer thing for nearly 4 years, and I know that there are only a few themes here that have a no-widget page template, and a few more that don’t show widgets on static pages (old templates).

This has nothing to do with widgets, it has to do with pages, page templates and whether you can turn the sidebar off page by page, or for static pages all together.

remove widgets from a Page or Pages and leave it on others

Widgets on static pages or single posts

Scott, we appreciate the attempt to help, but chill. In this case you don’t know what you’re talking about.

We ALWAYS ask for the URL. In time you will see why.

Actually i do know what i’m talking about as a developer and coder in and outside wordpress for over 8 years. I never said a thing about the url but offered a sound explanation of how widgets are handled within wordpress.

If you can’t help in a respectful manor then please don’t help.

Hijack. I have been for for 4 years!

That was meant for “thesacredpath”, not you timethief…you’re doing great.

@scott, but this is NOT in every theme here:

you can do this by changing the Template to “Full width, no sidebar” in the Add/Edit Page function

Test drive a bunch of themes and see for yourself. We don’t even know what theme the person is using so how can we determine if they have the no-sidebar full-width option in their theme?

thesacredpath, not sure why you keep responding…the originator of the post hasn’t even responded. If you continue to do this on the threads i’m posting on then i’ll have to report you. End of discussion.

Go right ahead scott, and give them the link to this thread. I’ve already put the modlook tag on it, so staff will see it shortly.

Report him, Scott, by all means. Absolutely. It will be particularly relevant during your interview, if any.

hi I can’t seem to find a simple solution to remove widgets from a Page or Pages and leave it on others or even on Posts. Whats the easiest solution to control exactly what pages you want you widget to be displayed on?

On WordPress.com, widgets are site-wide. If a view (such as a single post or single page view) has them, it always has the same set.

Some themes don’t have widgets on pages. Some don’t have them in single post views. Some don’t have them in either. There are a few that have page templates you can choose from to force a page in your theme to not use widgets. It’s a function of the theme you are using on WordPress.com.

buypremiumtech, if you would like additional assistance with this, please contact us at http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ with your site URL and we can help you figure out the options available for the theme you are using on WordPress.com.
