How to Remove WordPress Branding, Creator Plan?

Hi, there. I used the Help Center bot to ask how to remove WP branding from my site. Unfortunately, the AI instructions given and the options I’m given via my site’s dashboard are not the same.

The bot says to go to the dashboard, navigate to Appearance/Customize, Find Footer Credit Settings or Site Identity, and then choose to hide the WP logo from the Footer Credit settings. Unfortunately, there is no ‘customize,’ no ‘footer credit settings,’ OR ‘site identity’ option. I’m stuck.

Ongoing necessary updates to WP change the steps users must take to accomplish simple tasks like this. I’d appreciate help. The site is thirdeve.com. Thanks in advance for any help rendered.

You only have a tiny “w” that doesn’t look out of place. But anyway, it used to be reached via Settings/General. If I use Settings/General there is a link on the right which takes me to Customize. Going directly to Customize doesn’t take me to that same place, oddly. But WordPress.com has never been logical too me after 16 years?!?

    Hi there!

Apologies for the confusion. The Appearance → Customize link is not shown because the theme you’re using does not require the Customizer for most edits (only old/classic themes used to be configured using the Customizer). However, I can see how that can be confusing since the credits setting is still in the Customizer.

For now, please click here to access the Customizer directly. (You can add /wp-admin/customize.php at the end of your site address to visit the Customizer anytime.)

Once you’re there, click Site Identity → Footer Credit and choose the “Hide” option. Here’s a screenshot:

Finally, click the Save Changes button at the top of the Customizer to save the changes.

Hope that helps! Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.
