How to remove your account/user (as an admin) from a blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I was added as administrator to a blog but I don’t want to be in it anymore. As I can’t ask directly to the other admin for personal reasons, I’d like to know if I could remove my account from the users page of the blog. When I try, the system doesn’t let me do it.
    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The User Roles support page says:

An Administrator has full power over the site and can do absolutely everything. Administrators can create more Administrators, invite new users, remove users, and change user roles. They have complete control over posts, pages, uploaded files, comments, settings, themes, imports, other users – the whole shebang.

Apparently, this so-called “full power” may not include removing oneself from the site’s users. You may call for staff attention by adding a “modlook” tag to the sidebar here.

    Hi there.
Only the owner can remove the others admins.

    And @bratinez isn’t the owner.

    I was added as administrator to a blog but I don’t want…

@bratinez: Ask the owner to remove you.

    @ galois,

@bratinez: Ask the owner to remove you.

As I can’t ask directly to the other admin for personal reasons…

Only the owner can remove the others admins.

I’m aware of this limitation. Just wanted to point out that the support page is misleading. A non-owner administrator can not remove either themself or the owner/administrator from users. That’s not “full power.”

The second quote in the preceding post is from the original post. I should have made that clear.

Provided you did not register the blog, if you want to leave a blog you have been made an official user of by way of invitation then you can use the leave a blog option. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#leave-a-blog

You will, of course, have to be logged in under the exact same username account that was added to the blog as a user ie. as an additional Admin on that blog.

You’re right. But my point is
    a) @bratinez isn’t the owner.

    b) If @bratinez wants to be removed, he has to ask the blog owner.

Just I say the answer to why he can not do it himself. And what to do to stop being an administrator.

    Thanks, timethief.
I was completely unaware of that option.

    TT: good point. :)

    @ galois,
    Understood, but…

    b) If @bratinez wants to be removed, he has to ask the blog owner.

That option was eliminated in the original post:

As I can’t ask directly to the other admin for personal reasons…

LOL, very good point :D. Sorry, @musicdoc1

    Bratinez,

What’s the blog? The one you have listed here – pendolanum – shows only you as a user on the site.

    Please send me a URL.

    Thanks much.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your help!
I did as @timethief suggested and I finally could leave the blog.
Actually, @thatrobyn, it wasn’t Pendolanum the blog I wanted to be removed from, it was another one (but it’s private right now anyway).
Thank you all, I’m sorry I took a while to answer but I really appreciated your dedication to my problem.
My best regards from Italy! :)
