how to require email address sign in to see blog
-
I would only like people to be able to access the blog by first giving me their email addresses to opt in. How do I set this up, in detail please.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Unfortunately, I do not believe that WordPress.com offers the ability to restrict content based up on email entry. You could restrict content to logged in users or to people that you give access to only.
-
You cannot require registration on a WordPress.COM blog. You can hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting and set up registration of a WordPress.ORG install.
-
Well, you can do this by setting the blog as Private and then you Invite people by email.

If you want to do what raincoaster says then to change blog visibility to Private go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 .
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#invite-people-to-view-your-private-blog and here http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/There is no maximum number. The only limitation is a spammer prevention one and that’s issuing only 10 invitations at any point in time, then wait and send out 10 more.

Thanks for all the feedback. I would like to give away content on the blog as a way to build our email base.
How could I restrict content to logged in users and does this mean that the blog won’t be crawled and found by search engines? We would like search engines to find us and if I click #3 then it sets the privacy so it won’t be crawled. Thanks for all the help! -
We told you how to restrict the readership. If you do this, it will not be crawled by search engines.

Also does anyone know how I shrink a picture to fit into the blog header?
I can cut it with a snipping tool but the photo comes in gigantic.
Thanks! -
Consult the theme description here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentythirteen/
The header image size is 1600 wide and 230 high.
Create an image of the correct size and optimize it for the web and upload it here > Appearance > Header -
Thank you again for your responses. I really appreciate the help since I am clueless how to get through all this.
To have people submit their name and email ( to access white papers) it sounds like I need to create an online form through wordpress. There are companies that I’d have to pay to set this up ( http://www.formstack.com) but do I have to hire an outside source? There is no way to do this otherwise?
