How to reroute old domain name to new WordPress one
-
Hi there,
I have an e.g. myname.co.uk domain name with Clikpic, but I have created a new website on WordPress & paid for a new domain name, e.g. myname.com I have already created my new website & want to redirect any users who click on myname.co.uk automatically to myname.com on WordPress
Can anyone help with this please? Massively appreciated!

Hi,
If Clickpic allows you to update your domain’s name servers, you can map the domain to your WordPress.com site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/ -
Thank you so much for your reply.
Do I need to provide a TAG for the domain transfer from WordPress to Clikpic? Do you know how I can find this out?
Also I’m worried that doing this will mean that I keep my .co.uk domain name, rather than using my new WordPress domain name which ends in .com – I’m a little confused!
Thanks again and best wishes

If Clikpic will update the name servers for your .co.uk domain name, then you wouldn’t need to provide an IPS TAG. Your domain would stay with them and show content from your WordPress domain.
If Clikpic won’t do that, then it’s a little complicated. You would have to transfer the domain to another registrar (which would provide an IPS TAG). Once the domain is at the new registrar, then you’d do the domain mapping.
You can have any number of domains pointing to the same WordPress.com site. You choose one of those as the primary name that will appear in the browser’s address bar.

Hi there,
Thank you so much for all of that useful information – it’s the most helpful I’ve got so far so thanks for taking the time to share. I’ll definitely explore that in more depth. Thanks so much again!
