How to reset my page to get all settings from new theme
-
I’m new on WP and I’m trying to put up my blog. Two weeks ago I’ve opened my page and chose one theme but after some small changes (one post and some changes in main menu) noticed that this theme is not best for me and I’ve found other that suits me better. So I’ve applied theme Lovecraft over first theme (Gateway) but noticed that I’ve lost some great settings (base) that I would like to have from Lovecraft and I don’t know how to get the original theme (not changed one) back. Since I only have one post and information about me, I can easily reset all and copy new things again after I get new base for customization.
Is there any easy way to do that?
Thanks,

Hi Irena,
I’ll be happy to help out with this. :)
Can you confirm that you’re happy for me to remove all existing content on mojemorje.wordpress.com and to then replace it with settings/content from Lovecraft’s demo site? If you can confirm, I’ll go ahead to import the base settings/content from the demo.

Thank you for confirming, Irena!
I have gone ahead to import the base settings/content from the demo to mojemorje.wordpress.com. You’re now free to customise and edit the content to your liking. :)
Let me know if that’s helpful or if any questions come up while setting up your site.

Dear Siobhyb,
thank you so much, but I have noticed that I still can’t see things that demo shows in first page, like Archives, Navigation, Comments, Tags and Recent Posts section. Is that because previous theme didn’t have them? Do I need to do something to make them turn up like in demo?
Thanx, Irena -
Hi Irena,
The sections that you mentioned are all widgets (a fancy name we give to special pieces of content that you can add to your site’s sidebar or footer.) To add a widget, first navigate to the widgets panel in the WordPress.com Customizer. From there, you will see a button to add a new widget to your site’s sidebar and you can choose from “Archives,” “Tags,” and more.

I’m new on WP here too and I’m trying to put up my husbands website. I have Gateway but lost some base settings like the “call to action” button that I would like to have back along with other settings that have disappeared and I don’t know how to get the original theme back.
The site is http://www.MichaelScottPollack.com

Hi Desiree,
Can you please start a new thread on this forum with your question? You can do that here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes#postform
In your new request, please confirm that you’re happy for us to remove all current content on MichaelScottPollack.com and to replace it with the settings/dummy content from Gateway’s demo site.
If you’d like to keep your content, then we can also offer guidance for setting up the site. The theme has a section on creating the “Call to Action Button” in their documentation here:
https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway
