How to restore access to dashboard

I want to delete a site I started creating in 2009 but when I log in, it says User xxxx Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested. I know my credentials are correct. The site also doesn’t show up on my account profile. How can I reestablish access and delete the site?

You are logged in as ‘xxxx’ and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for ‘xxxx’. If you are not ‘xxxx’, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are ‘xxxx’ and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

Hi, is the site you’re trying to log into hosted here with us? If so, here’s how we can help you regain access:

    Recover Your Account

Or if you can already log in as ‘xxxx’ please log out and do that.

If you’re trying to access an installation at another host, I’d recommend asking your host for help with these steps:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

Can you send a link to the site if you need more help? We’ll use that to point you in the right direction. Cheers!

Thanks. Yes, it’s hosted by WordPress. https://zoesawesomesite.wordpress.com/

I can log into my account but not the site.

    Hi there,

That site is not associated with the account you’re currently logged in to. It is owned by a different account and therefore you need to follow the instructions in our Account Recovery guide that @supernovia linked in their reply.

Hi, thank you, but the site was created through that account and IS associated with that account unless someone has hijacked it.

I’m afraid you are mistaken, that site is not owned by the account you are posting from. We’re not seeing any evidence of hijacking as the user account that created the site initially is still the owner.

I would encourage you to take a look at the account recovery options to assist you in regaining access to this site.

All you need to do is visit a post on the site to see the author/username/account.
PS: That account and site appears to have been created in 2017 not 2009. Are you perhaps looking for some other site? The account you are logged in to now was created in 2009.

Hmmm, ok, well I tried to sign in with my other User ID that was created in 2017 and it said it doesn’t exist. I also tried the account recovery but that simply wants me to reset my password, which I don’t need to do. I can access my account, I just can’t access the site with that account or my other account. So the account recovery does not help me at all.

Also, the User ID I created in 2017 DOES exist and I administer our other HIPAW site with it.

Ah, I was able to go into the blog section and discover the site creator, someone who was working on a different site for me. Do I need to contact her to delete the site?

Yes, only the site’s owner can delete a site.
