how to restore from back up and not have plug ins update?

  My website has a critical error that appears to have been caused by a plug in automatically updating. I can’t even get it to load in the WordPress site.

  I restored from a back up on my host site but the plug ins automatically updated and it crashed again.

  How can I stop this update cycle?

  WP.com: Yes
  Jetpack: Yes
  Correct account: Yes

  Note that because the site won’t load in WordPress I can’t disable the plugins or turn off the setting to automatically update them.
