There is no domain mapping upgrade for islamicrenaissance.co.uk here at wordpress.COM. If you would like to use this domain you will first need to set up domain mapping.
re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.
IMPORTANT: In order to map to a domain one register an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.
If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Are you referring to mapping from this empty wordpress.COM blog https://islamicrenaissance.wordpress.com/ to your domain URL?
-
https://islamicrenaissance.wordpress.com/ – no, this is not my site.
So if I map it to wordpress, will it restore my data?
I originally hosted/mapped it through wordpress (I am not sure of the exact terminologies so I apologise if its confusing.)
I basically had a proper website with a lot of articles and content. I always used to log into wordpress to edit and add content, check my stats etc… However, when I bought the domain again it is not allowing me to do so. If I map it, will it fix the problem?

Know that you will need to provide the underlying .wordpress.com URL that you used previously to map from to this domain URL http://islamicrenaissance.co.uk/

What if I don’t remember the wordpress url?
If I provide the incorrect underlying url (i.e. not the one I originally had), will it still restore my data?
Further clarification: On my stats, I can still see stats for the articles however there are no articles on the wordpress admin site.
I have lost all my content/articles and appreciate all your help as it was resource based articles and I wouldn’t be able to recreate them again. Honestly, thank you for your support and I apologise if I am being repetitive. I am just not sure if I understand it correctly.

Hi there,
I’m taking a look in to the account which you have here with us at WordPress.com, and I can see that you had a WordPress.org site for islamicrenaissance.co.uk which you connected to our service via Jetpack about 3 years ago, was that your site?
Just to clarify, there are two main versions of WordPress at work here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
WordPress.org is a set a free software which can be installed with any hosting company anywhere in the world (companies like GoDaddy, Bluehost, HostGator, etc). You install it, maintain it, and are responsible for the upkeep.
WordPress.com is the company that I work for, and we provide both free and paid-for WordPress services where we set up a WordPress site for you and give you support within our network. We do all the work for you, but you’re a little more limited in what you can do. We have a help article explaining the differences right here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
So when I say that your site was connected via Jetpack, that means that your site was a WordPress.org site (hosted with some other company) but was connected to our company with a plugin which we created. If this is the case, we don’t have a backup and you would need to contact your old host to see if they have a backup for you. With that said, if you had a different account than the one which you’re writing in from, that may have the WordPress.com blog which has your old content.

Hello,
I have a question similar to hers if you could please help me. I was originally with bluehost and used the wordpress.org plug in. I recently ended my host service account, but, still have my domain. I do have the back up for the website. I would like to transfer back to wordpress.com using my domain. Can i do this? Thanks

Hi Pinky,
So that you are aware, we generally ask that new issues, even if they are similar to a current one, create their own thread.
However to answer your question, we don’t allow importing via MySQL, so if you have a MySQL backup file then you will need to create a new WordPress.org site to restore your site in to (this help article will help you: https://codex.wordpress.org/Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup). Once you have a site up and running, if you still want to transfer your site to WordPress.com, you can import it using this help article: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/
If you already have a backup XML file, then you can skip the first step and just go straight to the second help document which I referenced above!
