So my previous website ‘s domain has been transferred to my colleague yesterday, but I forgot to backup website content. Since domain transferred, previous WordPress account has been removed. My colleague now asking me for the backup files of website, which I do not have. How can I restore the website and get the backup files? I cannot log in to the account now because of plan removed. Thank you very much.

    Hi there!

Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

    Thank you!

    svlyrics.com
    and
    svvig.com

    Thank you!

  • Neither of those domains were registered or hosted here, so they would have been using the self-hosted WordPress software from https://wordpress.org

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

Since the self-hosted version of WordPress is entirely standalone, your only option is to ask your former hosting provider if they still have a backup of your hosting account, or it’s still active.

My best guess is the site may have been hosted at GoDaddy, and you can reach them at https://www.godaddy.com/help
