Hi there,
There is not a way to make the prompt box return to the dashboard at this time, as noted here: https://wordpress.com/support/writing-prompts/#my-home-1
However, as an alternative you can enable writing prompts as a daily notification (that shows in under the bell icon in the upper right or in email) by going here, choosing your site, and then in the dropdown enabling the writing prompts notifications: https://wordpress.com/me/notifications
More info about writing prompt notifications here: https://wordpress.com/support/writing-prompts/#30-email-notifications-1-post
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi there, hope you don’t mind me adding this.
One other thing I discovered recently is the Daily Prompts also appear in the Reader. If you click the Discover tab in the Reader, at the top of the page there’s a button/tag for “Daily Prompts” and if you click that, you’ll see a list of the 10 most recent prompts at the bottom of the right sidebar, in reverse chronological order (newest at the bottom of the list).
Hope that helps someone!
