How to revert back to free domain?

My paid domain (www.madbuzzhk.com) is going to expire and I’d like to revert back to the free wordpress domain to host my wordpress content, what should I do?

    Hi there!

It looks like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted at Siteground.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.

You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

Since your site is not hosted here at WordPress.com, you don’t have a “free” *.wordpress.com domain to revert to, so if your domain expires, you won’t have a site on Siteground. The content will remain, but you won’t have a web address to go to.

If you have time before your domain expires, you can export your current site and import it here to WordPress.com by following the steps here: https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/

    I hope that helps!
