how to save a free domain name on a free plan
-
I’m trying to set up a free domain name on a free plan, such as wordpress.com For some reason wordpress is not allowing me to do this. It keeps showing up as a different domain that what I want, on the free plan. why is it doing this and how can I correct it?

the domain name I have chosen, which ends in .wordpress.com
Wordpress says that you can register the domain name ending with wordpress.com in the free plan

when I type in my domain name I want it to just end with wordpress.com,
but it shows up as travel.wordpress.com. I then changed it from travel to wordpress.com.. but then it comes back up as travel.wordpress.com. soooooo frustrating!!! is wordpress just trying to get me to apply for a paid plan, when I want to go with the free plan? -
Here’s a visual instruction to help you out. Select Business and then still type Blog as your business type. You will have the free option available to you with other paid domains.

Hello there, it’s odd that WPcom would suggest the address
travel.wordpress.comsince that address has already been registered.I see you have a couple of mysite.travel.blog free sites in your account. What is the exact free address you are trying to register? Try typing it in your browser’s address bar and if the address is available, you should be given the option of registering it if you are logged into your account.
