how to see widgets at the top of the page for mobile site
-
Hi
When choosing a theme (currently using apostrophe), I searched for one that shows me a list of my posts (preferably image based with as little text as possible) but also a simple way to see my widgets for categories and search.
The problem I saw is with the mobile site that in contrast to the desktop site, puts the widgets in the bottom, so users don’t see it.
Any suggestion how I tackle this assuming I’m staying with wordpress.com ?
I looked for themes that show the widgets at the top, but so far, didn’t find any such ones
The only theme I saw with a constant search at the top of the page is canard, although the categories widget is still at the bottom
ThanksGuy
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There is no theme that does this on WordPress.com, and I’m pretty sure you also won’t find a self-hosted theme that works like that. Themes that adjust automatically on mobile devices will always move the sidebar to the bottom of the screen on narrow screens, as the content of the site, i.e. posts and pages, have priority over widget content.

Thanks, I’ve found several themes that have a built in search button at the top and for category widget, I think I’ll use one of those plus define the category widget for a specific categories page without my posts so it will be displayed first thing at the top.
I would like to see the search button appear on more themes and also a better way to see the categories at the top of the screen, since most people this day use the mobile device for browsing and not the desktop. -
I’m glad you found a way that works for you.
Many people actually prefer not to have a search box in the header, so most themes are designed without there, but we’re working on ways to have themes more customizeable in this regard as well.
