How to send email alerts to a personal database

Hi all,
I would like to send an email alert to my e-mail contacts everytime I post a new entry. I was wondering if this is possible. I already have a database with all my contacts.

We automatically notify all of your email subscribers of each Post you publish based on their subscription settings. You can invite your contact to follow your blog following these directions:

Anyone you invite must confirm that they would like to follow your site before they receive email notifications from your site.
