How to set a pdf to download only (uncopiable), not as link
-
I want to make a pdf of a long poem available to readers, but uploading the document results in a pdf that opens in a new tab online and can be copied and pasted, thus exposing my work to easy theft. How do I set a pdf to download from my wordpresss site only as a secure, uncopiable document?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not really. Anything you put on the internet in any format can be copied. You have two options only.
Uploading documents
Accepted file types are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/The following processes are outlined particularly for users who wish to upload a document and add its download link to a blog post or page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/
Embedding documents
Accepted file types are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/If you want to embed the document itself into a post, then you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs.

You can have a PDF document password protected, one option if I remember correctly is disable the ability for the document to be copied (copy & paste the text) – the document file can always be copied and pasted.
M/S Word will knot produce encrypted PDF files with those protections, I think Open Office will. You will need to look at the Adobe Acrobat documentation to be sure.
also I would not be surprised if there was some way to get around the encrypted don’t copy the text part, I have put some encrypted PDF files on my site, been a while, sometimes I set the encryption so the files can’t be modified, only printed (I want them to be able to print but not change or delete the copyright credits.
