How to set up a new .co.uk domain on WP with email account for that domain

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi
I want to set up a new site for a new .co.uk domain and need to have an email associated with it with the same domain name.

    e.g. site = Example.co.uk
email address = (email visible only to moderators and staff)
I know that I will need to get the .co.uk domain elsewhere and then associate it with my WP site but what about the email? Will I need to buy that from the domain provider as well or can that be provided and setup directly through WP?

    Thank John

  • Hi there,

First, you’ll need to connect your domain here using domain mapping, and point your domain’s name servers to us:

Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)

We do not offer email hosting, so you’ll need to set that up through a third-party provider. We do offer email forwarding, where you can set up an email@yourdomain that will forward to your regular email, but I see you have a Yahoo address which means you will only be able to receive emails at that address, but not to send emails from it, as Yahoo doesn’t allow you to set an email alias.

Popular options for email include G Suite, which is Gmail for business, and Office 365 email. Both of those are paid services. The most popular free option is Zoho Mail. We have setup instructions for all three of those here:

    Add Email

You can also use other email providers, including any option your domain provider might offer, but those are the three that are used by most people.
