How to set up a Podcast category?
-
I tried to follow these instructions, to set up the podcast: https://wordpress.com/support/audio/podcasting/#podcasting-tutorial
But when I click in ‘Writting’ there is no Podcasting section.
I thought that maybe I had an older version, so I just updated to 5.6.1, and it’s the same.
How can I set up the podcast? -
Which site is this for? I see you have a few on your account. Can you tell me the URL so we can take a closer look at your settings?
Also I wanted to mention that WordPress.com is a great way to host your podcast, but you will need to upgrade to the WordPress.com Personal Plan or higher, as it is not possible to host audio on your site if it is still on the free plan. As well upgrading will allow you to set a custom URL for your site (which your podcast RSS feed will share) rather than use the mysitename.wordpress.com URL we would assign to the site, and provide access to priority support options.

I have a wordpress.org account.
The site I am referring to is this one:
https://urbo.pt/ -
Hello there,
Many thanks for that confirmation.
It looks like https://urbo.pt/ is a self-hosted WordPress site, which is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
You may wish to check out this guide here when it comes to podcasting: https://codex.wordpress.org/Podcasting
I hope this helps.

Thank you for the response and the infformation linked.
Just so that I can fully understand how WordPress support works:
– The only way to get support from WordPress on wordpress.org is if I subscribe to a Pressable plan?
(by support I mean direct interaction with a person, no matter what channel, forum, chat, phone or email )
Thank you in advance for the clarification. I have 2 self hosted sites and plan on using WordPress for many years. I need to know what kind of support I get from WordPress itself. (From the hosting company I have an idea).
-
Sorry if I am not clear in my previous question.
This has been a source of confusion in my head for many years. Just about as much as I’ve been using wordpress.com (without hosting, just a free blog).
When I wanted certain features they were not available, only if you had hosting. So for me, I made a distinction: wordpress.com has limited features, wordpress.org has hosting and all the features.
This distinction of mine seems to be wrong. What I now get is these 3 options:
– WordPress.com payed plan (that gives you a domain, and basic stuff)
– WordPress hosting through Pressable (all the features and WordPress support)
– Self hosted (all the features, but no direct support from WordPress)(what I mean by all the features is for instance the ability to install themes not available for wordpress.com, to change CSS, to create email address, etc.=
Does it make sense to think fo it like that?
-
So, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
On WordPress.com, we offer several plans. As you noticed, the free one is pretty limited, and support for those sites can be found here, on these forums. You can get more features and access to email or live chat support with a paid plan: https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/.
If you choose to host your site elsewhere (we’ll be referring to that as WordPress.org), your support options will depend on your hosting company.
The support for WordPress.org comes from unpaid volunteers on WordPress.org – there are no other official ways.
I hope that makes sense :).

“The support for WordPress.org comes from unpaid volunteers on WordPress.org – there are no other official ways.”
This means a forum, this exact forum right?
If it’s like that, it’s the same as other services. And it’s fine (for customers like me, since I do think the volunteers should also get paid).
Rephrasing my initial question:
– https://wordpress.com/support/audio/podcasting/#podcasting-tutorial
Following this guide, the fact that I don’t see a “Podcasting” section is because I am not using WordPress.com, right? -
This means a forum, this exact forum right?
Almost, WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Following this guide, the fact that I don’t see a “Podcasting” section is because I am not using WordPress.com, right?
That is correct, yes.

Thank you for the clarifications. I have what I need.
In fact, this thread showed how dynamic, responsive and kind the people here are.I am grateful to you all.
Be safe and happy! -
Sorry for coming back here.
Thank you for providing these links:
https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
(I spent there 2 hours, with no success)I cannot find a way to post a new topic at the “forums”.
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/All I want is to do is change the color of links, on my site https://urbo.pt/
(I have tried instructions with CSS given for other themes, which did not work)
And I could not find any documentation on that and no way to ask for help.I know I am self hosted. But the theme is a WordPress theme. It is no unreasonable to expect WordPress to provide clear instructions for this.
Please, if someone was in my shoes (shoes of a non-specialist in css and html), what would you do, where would you search?
-
You’ll need to create an account on WordPress.org (if you haven’t got one) to open a new thread there.
Which theme exactly are you using? -
I’m using Spearhead.
https://wordpress.com/theme/spearhead/supportThis is what I’ve tried:
– Going to Appearance > Customize > Colors
(there are 6 colors to be change, none is link, none is red)– Adding CSS in “Appearance > Customize >Aditional CSS”, like:
a:link {
color: #E0CDC9;
}
(nothing changes)– Opening the Theme Editor and, using “CTRL + F”, searching for “a:link”
(nothing found)note: I opened the theme editor twice, but did not perform any changes there.
note 2: while searching for this (it’s been days), I found that some premium themes sold outside of WordPress have this intentionally taken away, so that buyers have to pay for the ability to change this color. my concern is that this theme (publicized as free) also does this.Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just an example to clearly show that the default color is terrible:
https://urbo.pt/index.php/CONVIDADOS/
In this page I used the button block.
The button picks up the default link color (which I cannot change) and the text inside is unreadable.note: I am usually seeing this in dark mode (the theme has dark mode support). But I switched back to light mode and it is still unreadable.
note 2: I have already tried to change the color of the inner text, with no success. Even I can, I still find very displeasing the color of the link. -
Okay, so is it the red color of the links that you’re trying to change?
This is a primary color for the theme, and you can indeed change it in the Customizer. If this isn’t available for you in WP-admin, try connecting it to your WordPress.com account via Jetpack, and try there.As for the buttons, you should be able to adjust the color directly from the blog settings.
-
Ty so much for the tip on the button. I was able to change its color.
As for the color of the link, these are the custom colors I see on “Appearance > Customize > Colors”
note: I have clicked on each color and then on “default” to make sure the colors are the default one.I have now installed Jetpack, linked it to my WordPress.com acocunt and cannot find where to change the link color.
I also could not find documentation for it.I have tried this:
https://jetpack.com/support/custom-css/ (I enabled customer CSS in “Jetpack → Settings → Writing”)But when going “Appearance → Customize → Additional CSS” and adding
a:link {
color: #E0CDC9;
}
still nothing changed.– Can you point me to where and how on Jetpack I can change the link color?
-
In the meantime, I have also installed other pluggins (apart from Jetpack):
– Child Theme Configurator
– Central Color Palette
– ElementorStill could not find a way to change the link color.
I wen back to the Customizer, went to Aditional CSS and tried
“a {
color: #000000;
}”On my browser I clicked to check the code of the link on the footer and found the category “site-name”. So I tried, in Aditional CSS:
“.site-name{
color: #000000;
}”I tried both “.site-name” and site-name”.
note: color: #000000 is just a test, since the change to black would be quite easy to spot.
In every experience, I check the site in both light mode and dark mode. Nothing works.
-
As you can see in the Elementor editor, when I change the link color, 1 thing changes:
(the color of the word “Edit”, which is in fact a link)But neither the site name nor the links inside the text change color
Is this any help? Can you identify what sort of link is this?
(in my search, I have seen that it is possible to define properties for specific links) -
Hello, please:
– how can I post a topic in WordPress.org?
I have created an account in WordPress.org. This is what happens, in an infinite loop:
1 – I go here https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ and search for documentation on what I need
2 – I don’t find the documentation I need and click on the link bellow, returning to 1.I made sure I am logged in. I can even see that I have no topics and WordPress kindly suggests that I start a new one:

Hi there,
The support forum for the .org version of the Spearhead theme can be found here: https://wordpress.org/support/theme/spearhead/
Thanks!
