How to setting cache expiration?

First, I’m fully aware that self hosted WordPress.org and free WordPress.com is different thing.

Second, I set up blog for my friend that are pretty much newbie and just starting. And he is just happy to use free service that without hassle.

The problem when I test and not satisfied is something about cache image. At first I thought built-in Jetpack Photon CDN offers something similar with Cloudflare, at least for image. But when I close my browser for few hours (of course without clearing cache, history etc) the image is seem need load again from server. It’s pretty different with my own self hosted site that using Cloudflare.

Is there no way to tell image to cache for at least 1 week? I believe it is something called leverage browser caching.

Hello, If their free site is hosted here on WordPressdotcom, we do not have that kind of access. Is there a specific reason you are concerned about this?

Yes at WordPress.com. Well I was expecting the Jetpack Photon behave like Cloudflare. But if I think again, his starting blog probably still low visitor so it didn’t affect too much. But it will great if the image cache expire a bit longer.
