How to setup a simple blog for free with wordpress

  I am trying to setup a simple page on WordPress.. Everytime i try, it keeps taking me to page with 2 options — Transfer domain to WordPress.com & Map your domain and both these are paid, nothing is free.

  Can someone please help or is there no free option at all on WordPress?

  Hello!

  Yes, there is a free option on WordPress.com. Maybe WordPress.com thinks you are trying to upgrade your domain name when you are trying to add a new site.

  Thank you Drizzleblocks,

  I tried that, when I click on Add new Site, takes me to “Let’s get your site a domain!
  Enter your site’s name or some keywords that describe it to get started.”

  The moment I enter any name, and search, just shows list of domains I need to buy and recommendation. it still takes me to a paid version.. just does not allow to create a free site..

  Ended up creating 2 separate logins, same experience, going to wix.com …

  Wordpress.com is just a paid site, no free versions..

  Hello again!

  You are not the first person to get stuck on this. The choice for a free domain name is less obvious, but present on the screen that “shows list of domains I need to buy…”.

  Among the domain choices present on that screen, the very first small row is always a free choice. Try it again and you will see.
