How to show how many followers without "amazing people"? Widget issue

  • Unknown's avatar

On my site is says “you are following this blog along with 748 amazing people”. It does not say this in my widget and have tried to remove “amazing people” many times (clearing my cache, removing cookies etc). I never wrote it and it just appeared one day.
The only way I have found to remove this is be not showing how many followers I have. I follow many other WP blogs that don’t have this.
Any help in removing “amazing people” would be VERY much appreciated!

Are you referring to the first widget in your sidebar?

Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Google Chrome?

If possible, send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.

The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:

Thank you for getting back to me.

It is the first widget in my sidebar. I have never written “amazing people” nor does it show up in my dashboard widget (It just says you are following this blog).

    I use a Safari browser.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have seen another post in the help section about this issue but the only solution offered was to not display the number of followers.

I will forward your feedback about the “amazing people” part of the text in the follow box to our developers for consideration. Since the wording works well for the vast majority of users, it’s not likely to get changed but I think it’s good to hear feedback like this just in case.

Also, don’t forget the ideas forum, where you can discuss your suggestion with the WordPress.com community: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas

    Thank you.

If you have the show numbers option turned off you will just see

    You are following this blog

You are following this blog (manage).

If you have the show numbers turned on you will see Amazing

    You are following this blog

You are following this blog, along with 117 other amazing people (manage).

If you have the show numbers turned on BUT you are logged OUT you will see – note the amazing is not shown for someone that is logged out

Thank you so much for forwarding my concerns to the developers.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to have the option to change the wording.

In the meantime–I would greatly appreciate your sending me themes that just have “you are following with …others”. I really don’t want to change the theme I am using but will if it’s my only option.

    Thank you again!

@cookingintuitive – did you read my answer above about you being the only one that sees the Amazing test

@TT – you be welcome also

Yes thanks–but I assume logged in users or email subscribers will see “amazing” if following my blog.

No they will not see Amazing – I also visited your site while logged in and did not see the Amazing text – see below for what I see while logged in – I think the fact that it must be someone with rights on a blog to see amazing is what threw @kardotim above and why they gave the “clear cache” advice

That is very helpful–thank you so very much!

I had tried clearing cache and still saw it but it’s really good to know what others see.

    Thanks again!-Julie
