how to sign up to allow my own domain name

  Your site is very badly designed. I have spent about 20 min trying to find out how I can prescribe to the paid feature to allow my own registered domain name and it just kicks me back to registering for a free blog. I already have a blog wordpress.com blog how do I upgrade to use my own domain name??

  You first have to get a blog here. Once you have registered that blog, then you can go about the domain mapping to map your domain name to the blog here. The blog here will then have your domain URL.

  OK I didn’t read far enough.

  Log into the dashboard for your blog here and then follow the directions in the domain mapping link above.

  If you already own the domain name, then you have to first point that domain toward the wordpress.COM servers. After doing that, it will take anywhere from 24-72 hours for that DNS change to work its way through the internet domain name servers. Typically it is less than 48 hours. Once it has stabilized then you can start the domain mapping process here.
