How to sort posts by users?
-
Hi All,
I have tried to find the answer by searching, to no avail, and I hope you can help!
I am using the Connections theme on my 5-user blog on wordpress.com. I’d like to be able to sort posts by user–either through a side bar widget (the same way you can search by category) OR at least to be able to send people to a page that collects all of one user’s posts.
Do other themes allow that? Does Connections?
If so, can someone please tell me how, as I’ve been poking around with no luck.
Many thanks!

What about creating a tag with each user’s posting name? Then you could just click on the tag.

Agreed. Try assigning a Category labeled by the author’s name. That’s probably the best bet.
Some themes have author’s pages but I don’t believe we have any of them here at wp.com.

I’ve also got a group blog and i’m wondering how to display each author’s name on their postings, in a group blog… most of the templates only display the time and date, not the author name…
can anyone help me with that?

I just answered you in the other thread…with the same answer I gave here. It will work for both purposes.

Couldn’t you also add a textbox widget with links for each users’ posts? So a given user’s posts could be viewed by visiting “http://randomblog.wordpress.com/author/username”

No, as far as I know that won’t work. There are no automatically generated author pages in most themes. That’s why I suggest using author names as tags. Then you can do basically the same thing with tag page links.

As long as they are static, it would work. For instance:

Thanks, ya learn something new every day.
Oh, wait. What if they were authors on more than one blog? Would it make a difference if this were their primary blog or not, too?

Should work for any user with “at least author permissions” on your blog. It does only show that blog though….need links for each blog involved…..
