How to start up a blog

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been trying to start up a blog. I was trying to create tabs along the top line (I’m unsure if that’s what you call them) the things that are like home, about, etc and when you click on them they take you to a post that you can only see if you click on the about button, or let’s say a contact button. I’m really struggling with how to do that and have the posts that are seperate from the general blog. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say.
Also I’m unsure of how to change font colour I would like to change the colour of the blog title and the smaller title beneath to black.
I’m apologise if this was a bother to you at all and hope that you could assist me.
    Thanks

  • Hello there!

WordPress.com websites are structured to have pages and a blog section, with a stream of posts. From there, you can select a single post entry by clicking on its title. Since every page and blog post has its own URL address, you are able to ‘separate’ posts from the others and display them elsewhere on your website as hyperlink texts (for instance on the tabs along the top line – the navigation menu) or on the right sidebar or on the footer.
I can guide you along this if you want :)
I also suggest you to read this document that explains well the difference between blog posts and pages.

As for the font colours, you can choose from the available palettes on the customiser (Dashboard>Appearance>Customize>Colors & Background).
As it may seem a bit restricted, you can upgrade to theCustom Design package, which gives you more options in terms of layout customisation.

I hope this is all clear. Let me know if you have any doubts or questions – glad to help! Cheers!
