How to start WPfolio artist theme onto wordpress – missing from themes ?

  hi

  I want a clean and simple artist theme website that doesn’t look like a blog – that I can work with/update [I don’t know code].

  Researching online I found the WPfolio looks great – and there appears lots of support / conversation about it.

  but it now seems missing from WP as one of their 159 theme options.

  however I found it behind the scenes as an extended theme:

  as:
  http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/search.php?q=WPfolio
  and downloaded it onto my mac laptop – but cant figure out how to get it working [or if it will] as the new theme for my wp blog…. ?

  but I also found a WP entry on custom themes [4 oct 2011] – that says one can’t now download custom themes:

  any advice appreciated on how to get WPfolio up and working on wordpress would be great
  – or otherwise info on what working available wordpress theme is a great simple website [ with online discussion/chats happening about how to get it to look like a website and not a blog ]

  We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM. We are limited to the 150+ (and growing) themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.

  Themes at wordpress.COM have to be modified to work within the restrictions here and to support the unique features.

  The differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org (self-hosted) sites.

  If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the Custom Design Upgrade, which will allow you to stylize the themes here, but it does not allow you to change the functionality. CSS is also themes specific so you cannot use the CSS from one theme with another theme. Before buying the upgrade, you can go to appearance > Custom Design and to the CSS tab and wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try out changes before you buy the upgrade.

  The .org and .com differences had eluded me !

  I have to research further re: check my capacities to use WPfolio via using
  wp .org
