How to stop another blog from stealing posts?

    Today after following a lead from my WordPress stats, I learned that another blog is wholesale lifting my posts and using them without permission and without attribution. They are getting a feed from any WordPress blogs with the tag “down syndrome”.

    Go look here: www dot downsyndrome dot com (I don’t want to give them a link).

    Any ideas of how to stop this?

    The registration info for “that other site” is below – call them, or contact them directly.

    Also, contact Network Solutions and lodge a complaint. Send a cease and desist letter to them also.

    (copy of one here http://www.onlinepolicy.org/action/legpolicy/opg_v_diebold/cease_desist_letter.shtml – change the wording, and the reasons – include the fact that you don’t mind them referencing your posts, but only with attribution and a direct link to the article on your site).

    This sort of thing is an annoyance, and a lot of time none of it works.

    You can try disabling the RSS feed – unfortunately, that might disable it for anyone else too.

    The thing to remember, is that if you put something on the web, people are going to steal it. It’s just the way it is – sadly. The only way to keep your stuff from being stolen is to NOT put it on the web.

    mereyom, you should send a DMCA notice to (email visible only to moderators and staff) with the words ‘Copyright Claim’ in the subject line – http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/legal_agreements/show_doc.asp?pageid=TRADMARK_COPY

    If you reports this to http://stolen.wordpress.com/tips/ with a link to the specific post that was stolen we’ll look into it further and provide more specific instructions if it is indeed a scraper site.
