How to stop document appearing in google search

Hi,
I had a document attached to a page on my site, but have since deleted to specific page.
However, the attatchedndocument still shows up on Google if you search for it and takes you to the opened document on WordPress.
It contains really old information and I would like it deleted or not able to be opened.
How do I get this to stop? Thanks.

Hello there, you may check if the document still exist by going to Media and click the Documents tab. If it’s still there, you may select it and click the Trash button to delete it.

If you’ve deleted the file from your media library, but it’s still accessible via the WordPress.com link, please give that link here and I can make sure it’s completely removed from our servers.
However, we have no way of removing the file from Google’s index or search cache, and even if it’s completely deleted from WordPress.com, it might still be accessible as a cached page in Google search results. To have it removed from there, you’ll need to contact Google directly.

Thanks to you both for the reply. I’ve now deleted the document from the media page but ye, it’s still there.

I have confirmed that file is no longer on our servers. If you’re still able to access it, it’s likely still stored locally in your browser’s cache, but no one else should be able to access that file directly any more.
To have the link removed from Google as well, they have some instructions on how to proceed here:
