How to stop emails from being sent to my old email account?

When i started my blog, i used an older email account to set up the wordpress.com account. After a while, i got a new account, and changed the email in the wordpress profile pages, and it sent me the emails notifying me when someone liked my posts. But it still sends the emails notifying me of new followers to the old account. this wouldnt normally be an issue, but the old account is my mom’s account ( i was too young to have my own email when i started blogging), and every time she sees an email from wordpress, she deletes it without telling me it ever existed! help, please!

You can update your email address in your Account Settings, or in your Personal Settings under Users → Personal Settings in your dashboard. -

sadly, i already changed my email in the account and personal settings. I can’t figure out why it didnt work the first or second or third times i re-inputted the new email address. it show me in the settings pages that my email is the one i want it to be (my new one), but it still sends half the email notifications to my old email.
it sends me the emails notifying me of likes to my posts, and it sends all of my new follower emails to the old account. its really confusing me that this is happening, because the old email is no where in any of the settings or information pages anymore.
