How to stop fraud and draft orders in WordPress

We would like to warn any brand considering making the switch from Shopify to WP not to make that mistake. Since we switched our brand over only two months ago, we have been bombarded with thousands of fraudulent CC attacks that WP not only allows but also allows to take up valuable order numbers through draft orders or failed orders. With up to 1000 draft orders coming through a day, we followed all security measures with WP by adding re capture and switching back to a classic cart. This did not stop draft or failed orders and WP could not give us an explanation as to why!

This ended up clogging our email servers, skyrocketing Klaviyo costs, ruining our advertising pixels and campaigns and losing 90% of our revenue. After two months of trying to get help and answers to solve any issues, we received next to no help apart from constant run arounds with different so-called Happiness Engineers or “Buy another plugin” none of which work correctly.

We were eventually forced into the decision to move our store back to the Shopify platform where we no longer have any of the above issues with fraud or CC attacks. Where draft orders are not permitted to take up valuable order numbers until they are paid for and Card attacks are filtered out and not permitted to take up draft order numbers. Whereas a growing international seven figure brand is both protected and supported to grow.

We would strongly advise any brand of any size, not to make the same mistake we did by thinking a switch from Shopify to WP for slightly more control and slightly cheaper rates (if using a third-party payment provider only! WooPayments is more expensive than Shopifypayments) will benefit your brand. Any brand using the WP and Woo platform is committing a slow and painful death!

There are several ways to avoid spamorders. You find usefull info at e.g. https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-prevent-fraud-and-fake-orders-in-woocommerce/

You could start by disabling the “Allow customers to place orders without an account” checkbox by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Accounts and Privacy
