How to stop links in my articles becoming comments

Every time I add a link in my posts to other pages on my site it creates a comment which I have to delete. Is there a way to turn this off? I have index pages on my blog, so I am literally deleting hundreds of these. I’m not even sure of the purpose of these comments – it just repeats the link.

    Hi ladylexuk,

These links are called pingbacks and they can be disabled from My Sites > Settings > Discussion. Uncheck the option which says “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)”.

Pingbacks can also be disabled for individual posts rather than the whole site:

    I hope this helps!

Thank you. I was worried that disabling that would prevent me from adding links in my posts. I have tried it out, and that solves the problem, and keeps the links.

Links can still be added to your posts :) This setting only applies to pingbacks, so the other links on your site won’t be affected.
