how to subscribe by email?

I’m a blogging newbie and several people have asked me how they can subscribe to my blog by email update. I worked out the RSS feed, but I’d rather have emails from a number of other wordpress blogs too – but can’t find an option to do that – any ideas?

a) do you a blog on wordpress.com?
If so, please give us the link to your blog, so we can check the issue.
b) are you asking how to subscribe to other blogs by email?
That would depend on whether they actually offer email subscription. -
Sorry. My blog is merigrace.wordpress.com. I’d like the option for people to subscribe to my blog via email, but can’t work out whether wordpress offers this, as I can’t see it on anyone else’s blog either.

You can do it through feedburner. Search the FAQ pages for “email updates” and you will find your answer.

wordpress.com does not offer that, but you can go to feedburner.com, sign up and put their code in a text widget in your sidebar.
