How to subscribe? (email notifications on new posts)

    Not sure what version I’m using – it’s the online web version (no web hosting).

    Anyway, I’m just wondering how you subscribe to blogs so you email notifications on new posts.

    I tried to use the ‘Subscribe to blog’ function but I get this message:

    “Blog not added: xxxxxxxxx.wordpress.com is visible only to chosen users.”

    The blog is private but I’m one of the users allowed…

    Is this how I would get it to work? And if so, why am I getting this error?

    You have your blog set to private. Private blogs do not have an RSS feed since that would negate having the blog set to private, and since the feedburner email subscription uses the RSS feed, you cannot have email notification. There is no way to do this with a blog set to private.

    Create a “group” in your email program and put your chosen users in that group and then send them an email when you publish a new post on your blog.
