How to suppress DNS name auto-linking
-
It seems that when I type something that looks like a website’s DNS name, such as
www.example.com, in a post it gets prepended withhttp://and converted to a clickable link. I don’t want either of those to happen in a portion of a post I’m working on. How do I suppress it for a specific piece of text? -
I think that’s new behaviour, and a bit annoying. After some playing I see that the expansion does not happen in preformatted sections (select preformatted in the style drop down.
Alternatively you can go into the “text” pain and add a comment after the first dot, so
http://www.<!– –>xxx.com
looks like http://www.xxx.com

Perfect! Here’s what I ended up with. Hopefully it will show up correctly.
www<!-- -->.example.com -
I completely agree with you: it’s annoying.
I don’t think it’s right to get this solved thru the use of preformatted (or pre html tag) style.
Or else, they should provide us a new settings option to turn this feature off.
