How to switch my website from Weebly to WordPress
-
I cannot switch my website which is hosted by weebly to wordpress because there is a transfer lock at the registery. Does anyone know what that means and how I can change it? Weebly doesn’t offer things I want on the site so it is time for me to move.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear you are having issues with transferring your domain. Typically all you need to do is unlock the domain at Weebly, which you can do in your domains tab.
I searched online for official documentation from Weebly but did not find any (perhaps they don’t want you to go?) so you may need to contact their support contact for assistance. From what I could see from looking at some other online guides, you can go to your domains tag>click on the domain>disable “Registrar lock” on the next page.Once you have done that the domain should be ready to transfer. From there you can start your new WordPress.com site here: https://wordpress.com/sites/
During the site setup process you will be asked to enter your Weebly domain so we know that you want to transfer, and then we will create a new (empty) site for you to use. From there you can import the contents of your Weebly site by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-from-weebly/
If you need a hand or have any questions at all, let us know and we’re happy to help, thanks!

I am also looking to transfer my website from Weebly. My domain/ email addresses for my business were registered through them. Will there be any issues with my email if I transfer to WordPress?

@thomascw001, generally speaking that won’t be an issue but since the details of your move may be different from the one in the original post, could you start a new topic at this link instead?
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1You can add a “modlook” tag if you’d like to get staff attention.
This will allow us to investigate your move separately so there is less chance of confusion from having our messages (to two people) mixed up together. Thanks!
