It doesn’t, because the site owner might moderate the comment and mark it as spam.
We don’t have a way to go back and check that each comment was not marked as spam. You can subscribe to new comment notifications though. When you see new comments you can check to see if yours shows up.

Correct, spam classification happens first, so if your comment is held for moderation, it wasn’t marked as spam.

You would not see any difference. The site owner is the one that could tell you if it was in spam. Or if you want us to take a look please share a link to the post in question.

Usually when I leave a comment it shows me the comment with “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” The following comments didn’t. Why not?

The last one you mentioned was approved. The others are still in moderation. I’m not sure why you don’t see the “in moderation” message at this point, but they are just being held for approval. They were not marked as spam.
