How to (temp) stop WP from sending post notifications?

  I recently put all my posts on ‘private’. After applying some changes I would like to have them ‘public’ again one by one. What I’m trying to avoid is spamming my email subscribers with notifications of posts they already received a notification for in the past.

  Is there a way to temporarily stop my blog from sending email notifications to subscribers when I mark a post ‘public’?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  When we allow anyone to subscribe to our blog, then the controls to receive or not receive notifications from the blog is on the subscribers.
  So I think we have no control anymore whether someone will receive a notice from our blog or not.
  Perhaps there are other friends who can explain, we’ll wait.
