How to tranfer my wordpress account from .com to .org

  Hi I recently registered a word press account

  I made the mistake of registering it from wordpress.com instead of .org. I would like to know if its possible to transfer from wordpress.com to wordpress.org as my wordpress.com wont allow certain plugins and features like .org does.

  without this change my wordpress account is pretty much useless as I need the functions available on .org.

  Sure! This guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:

  As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:

  As for the domain itself, you can keep it registered with us and just point the nameservers to your new host with these steps:

  Change a Domain’s Name Servers

  You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

  Just note that this means your domain is still registered through us and just hosting elsewhere. So you would need to keep the registration renewed yearly with us in addition to your new host. After 60 days from the date of registration you can transfer out your domain elsewhere (there is a lock placed on newly registered domains as per ICANN rules). When that time comes, the guide below explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code:
