How to transfer a registered domain from wp.com to wp.org

  HI there, I recently set up a wordpress.com blog and registered a domain name, However I now realise I need a wordpress.org site and need to transfer my domain name. I would like to delete my .com blog entirely and have the domain name sctphotography.com to direct only to my self-hosted wordpress.org site. I have no idea how to do this. Can you help?

  This guide explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar.

  To point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), please follow the instructions here:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/#changing-domain-name-servers

  Note you will need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

  That’s great, thank you very much. It’s now sorted – following those instructions was easier than I first thought and I’m still amazed that a complete amateur like me can do things like this. I’d never heard of a name server before yesterday!
