How to transfer ALL media from wp.com to wp.org?

  I am about to launch a new updated site. It used to be on WordPress.com and is now on WordPress.org

  Out of 362 media files only 78 made it through the export/import over on wp.org

  How can I transfer ALL my media from wordpress.com site to wordpress.org?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  It’s possible that you current host runs out of memory while importing the images. Therefore you might need to try and import several times until all images are imported.

  Let me know how that goes.

  Thanks for your reply.

  I was having a memory problem – upped it significantly. I tried another full import (attaching all) but I didn’t get any failure messages – only duplication messages – and the media is just not there.

  I don’t see a feature that would allow me to import/migrate only media from wordpress.com – and not a few at a time at that, either.

  How would I (can I) do that?

  Did you export from thenycactor.wordpress.com? and what’s the address of your new site?

  Importing individual media files will not attach them to the existing posts, that’s why it’s only done using an import file.

  Yes.

  I did a full export, and then an individual (pages, posts, feedback) export. And then uploaded all that to the new wordpress.org site – I’ve done it numerous times: sometimes the full import and then sometimes broken down into the three groups. I just did it again – no dice.

  Only about 1/3 of my media, and only 2 non-photo media files imported. And actually, since you mention it none of the media that did import is attached.

  Hi,

  OK. Just did the first file – MASSIVE difference. Just imported 100s of media files… and they are attached. Phew. What’s the .gz at the end of the files? Is that the difference? My own export files from wp.com were only xml

  I’m still missing a couple audio files, though. But I think I can work with that. 2 is better than HUNDREDS… !
