I suggest first learning the fundamental difference between the Post and Page, and you can read more about it here http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/pages-dynamic/

That is precisely what you should do: use categories to manage your blog. You have an events page and a political issues page. Assign the appropriate posts to each of those categories, then use a category widget in your sidebar to allow your readers to find the topic of interest.
Your theme supports one custom menu so you could even put your category pages into the navigation bar on top.
Blogs get one dynamic page where your posts are added. That is your home page (sometimes called front page).

http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/Use categories to organize your blog: categories make it easy for readers to choose which topics that interest them.

I’d like to do something similar – I’d like my old posts to remain on my blog but in my archives. I think there are already too many posts on my Home page and the more posts I add the longer it will take to scroll down to the the first post at the bottom.
So basically I’d like my posts to be stored in the archives on a month basis. And if people want to read my old posts they can just click on the month they want. I hope this makes sense.
Is there a way I can do this? By the way I already have categories.
Sorry I’m new to WordPress. Thanks for your help! -
Your latest posts are on top, older posts below. Readers see your newest ones without scrolling down.
You can set the number of posts to show on your home page. It will load faster and the old posts will be automatically archived (archive widget or calendar widget).
