How to transfer expired, locked domain

  I am trying to transfer my domain to another host, but my domain expired (though it is still locked, according to the other host)

  Hi there!

  Our records show that reginawilliambrunz.com expired 46 days ago on Jan 18, 2014.

  Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order. You can learn more about domain expiration here:

  Domain Expiration

  Because your domain is no longer in the grace period, you will be unable to transfer your domain until it is renewed.

  The good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one which we can waive.

  The total price will be $98, which is $18 for the regular renewal plus the $80 late renewal fee.

  Please reply back if you would like to go forward with the renewal and I’ll send you a private email with payment details. If we are unable to recover your domain your payment will be refunded.

  If you do not wish to pay the $80 fee you may let the domain expiration process continue and attempt to register the domain again at the regular price once it has expired completely.

  Please note that someone else may purchase the domain first, in which case you will be unable to register it again, but if you prefer this option just let us know and I’ll be happy to provide you further instructions.

  Is there any way I can find out when the domain expiration process is complete? (I plan to let the domain fully expire, then I’ll re-purchase it).

  Hi Regina,

  Since the domain is expired, you will not receive notifications about this domain anymore. You can check the status via a whois lookup like this one:

  http://who.is/whois/reginawilliambrunz.com

  You’ll see the ‘Status’ line says ‘Redemption.’ When the domain is released you’ll see a page like this.

  Please note, that you may not be able to purchase your domain again as it may be purchased by someone else through an auction, or be purchased before you’re able to re-purchase it.
