How to "Transfer" my domain from Wix to WordPress? Note: not mapping.

    Hello! Please help!

    I was hoping to map my “kayafitness.com” domain name from wix.com (the old platform I used) to my new wordpress blog “kayafitness.wordpress.com.” Unfortunately, Wix doesn’t allow me to change the name servers (they must use the wix name servers). Instead, the only option it looks like I have is to “transfer” my domain name to a new company. When I selected that option, they sent me the following email:

    Hi Danielle Eastman
    Your request to transfer your domain kayafitness.com away from Wix has been received. To complete the switch to your new registrar, please use the transfer code below within the next 7 days.
    Transfer Code: 1234567x (note: i have removed the actual code)
    How to Use the Code? Copy this code into the required field with your new registrar, and your domain transfer will be completed. Please note that some registrars will require a mandatory 60-day waiting period between purchase and transfer of domain.

    So….. Using this code, is it possible for me to transfer my domain and have it hosted through WordPress? I’d love to NOT use a third party (go daddy, network solutions, etc.) if possible. Thank you so much for your assistance! Also, this is somewhat urgent as my old website (kayafitness.com) has disappeared since I went to “transfer” the domain name from wix. I’d therefore love to connect kayafitness.com (the domain my participants know) to my wordpress site ASAP. Thanks!!!!!

    Hello,
    WordPress.com does not currently accept incoming domain transfers. If you already have a domain and you want to use it with your WordPress.com site, follow the instructions for mapping an existing domain to your WordPress.com blog. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

    Thank you. As I mentioned above, Wix doesn’t allow one to map to a different name server. The only option Wix gives us is to transfer out of wix. So, if WordPress won’t accept a transfer, I’m guessing this means I have to pay to transfer it to a 3rd party such as Go Daddy, and then pay to map it to WordPress. That’s unfortunate. Thanks for the quick response though…
